Once upon a time, there was a blue phoenix.
It flew up and landed on top of a wall
It overlooked the surrounding countryside.
and spread its wings for flight.
They weren’t always blue …
His teacher had told him he was born with red wings.
His body was iridescent rainbow-coloured.
He turned around and saw a female phoenix – a red one.
The red phoenix rose up into the environment. It paired with the blue phoenix in a partnership.
The two birds flew together across a cloudy sky and into the distance
in an immediate bond.
